The Prince of Wales’ regency lasted from 1811 until his father’s death in 1820, when he inherited the throne and became George IV. During this time, his eldest son, the Prince of Wales, ruled as Prince Regent. George III’s medical papers primarily cover the Regency era, in which health issues prevented him from fulfilling his duties as King.
